Duck and Duck Tracks quilt finish

Posted on: November 13th, 2021 by Lorna McMahon

Good news! It finally quit raining and raining and raining here. Probably because this is the last Duck quilt….

Bad news! It already started snowing here. No! I am not making a penguin quilt next.

Thankfully, there are also some sunny fall days left. I recently had the opportunity to get some outdoor photography done, as I mentioned in my last post, when I went for a drive with my son, Russell. I had quite a few finishes to take photos of. But the open road is too windy, even on a nice fall day. More to come soon!

My “Duck and Duck Tracks” quilt is one of my most recent designs in a series using a combination of 10″ blocks that feature both animal blocks and traditional quilt block designs. HOWEVER, these Duck blocks are 10″ wide by 12″ tall, paired together with 10″ traditional “Duck Tracks” blocks. I wanted to add the Duck Feet, made using the same method as the Duck Tracks blocks!

The backing is this cute rubber ducky fabric that I found at Quilting by Design in New Hamburg. It’s called “Rub-A-Dub Ducky” listed here. Apparently, it’s by Alexander Henry Fabrics and is an oldie but a goodie! According to some of my friends on Insta!

My son, Russell has been a good quilt holder for a long time now too. He’s getting too big to hide!!!!

The close up photos give a better sense of the true colours in this adorable print.

Not only are the ducks cute… But the BUBBLES are even CUTE!

My “Duck with Feet and Duck Tracks” quilt finished at 38″ x 40″, but the pattern also provides a setting for 62″ x 66″.

Duck with Feet blocks finish 10″ wide by 12″ tall and traditional “Duck Tracks” blocks finish 10″ square.

You can find the pattern here in my NEW SHOP!

  1. These ducks are sew cute! The printed word fabric in the stars is a unique, neat look, and the rubber ducky backing is perfect!
