Bee Pillow
Another quilted cushion….
This Bee pillow is another finish towards my goal of making a Handmade Holiday!
I had previously made this block waaaayyyy back in August of 2013 and blogged about it here. This was my one and only attempt at paper piecing and finished at 10″ x 10″. The Bee block was designed by Barbara of Modern Quilting by B and the free pattern can be found here.
I brought the block up to 12″ square using a narrow strip of black and a sweet yellow print. And then added 4″ borders before quilting.
For this cushion I sewed the back and front together with right sides facing, eliminating the need for a binding. I like the results and think it gives a clean, fresh look to this little make.
For the backing I found this handsome floral print hanging around in (my stash). And I had to convince myself to go ahead and use it. It is Floressence by Art Gallery Fabrics and it is so soft! When the said “Feel the Difference”. they meant it!
I have been making so many pillows lately that I did not even have to refer to this tutorial by S.O.T.A.K Handmade for making those hidden zipper closure for the back this time.
and was the 74th use of my 100 labels

It looks great and I really like how the thin black border makes the pillow pop.

Lorna, it's bee-utiful! I put a zipper in a pillow back yesterday and it was easy peasy. So easy, I'll always do it, from now on. Thanks so much for your encouragement and for the link to the tutorial. XO
