Sea Turtles by the Sea Shore

Posted on: January 22nd, 2022 by Lorna McMahon

Introducing my first finish for 2022! These are my Sea Turtles, hatching out, and heading for the SEA!

There is not one thing that don’t love about this quilt. First of all, those cross stitch fabrics by Alison Glass.

I can’t handle the cuteness of these little sea turtles!!!

I quilted using my usual organic wavy lines from edge to edge. I used variegated threads, yellow/orange at the bottom of the quilt and blue/green at the top. Mixing in the middle.

The binding maybe should have been applied to the front first, so I wouldn’t have cut off this guy’s nose.

The backing features King Fisher birds.

My Sea Turtles by the Sea Shore finished at 42” x 49”.

The pattern comes with two sizes…

BABY finishes 42” x 49”, with Sea Turtle blocks finishing 7″ wide x 6.5″ tall.

BIG finishes 84” x 98”, with Sea Turtle blocks finishing 14″ wide x 13″ tall.

You can find the pattern here in my NEW SHOP!

This is soooo cute! And I don’t think I’ve seen your wavy line quilting in variegated thread before–it looks awesome! Even more like waves! I will definitely try that!

This is so cute. I knew I had to make it for our place at the beach. I struggled for some reason with size, my blocks just didn’t come out square, consistantly 7 1/2 x 7, so my triangles are off. Anyway it’s a bit of a hot mess, but I love it!!
