Tea for Two

Posted on: July 31st, 2020 by Lorna McMahon
Meet my mom…
My mom turned 80 in May.
This COVID thing is driving her CRAZY.
So for the past two weeks, I have been driving her to the Erie Drive In for her favourite pulled pork on a bun. And of course, the soft serve ice cream!!!
These are are lunch dates.
Tea for Two.
My mom has encouraged me throughout my life in everything I have ever done.
She is truly an amazing woman and I am so grateful to have been blessed with her as my mom.
You can read all about my mom’s mission to make pillow case dresses for children in Africa here.
During her dress making days, she make over 1500 dresses in total.
Other NEWS…
What I wish I could afford to build in my sewing room….
What I am grateful to be able to build with existing melamine pot and pan drawers from the basement…
Along with a couple of brand new cube storage units and baskets.
I still have some decorating to do, but I am happy with how things are coming along!
Meanwhile, I am still getting grief from my children for scoping out “junk” on the internet…
I scored this KING size bed frame – head and footboard – for FREE!
My daughter thought it was ugly until I showed her this…
When it comes to junk, I believe you have to keep an open mind.
I, for example, do not like tea.
But I am in the market to purchase teapots NOW!!!

My parents are also 80 and also going crazy from being cooped up, but they remember polio and tuberculosis so they don't think it's as bad as it could be. They've also discovered restaurant delivery and are having fun with that. Have a fun time being \”out\” with your mom!

I can hardly wait to see the bed frame bench, what a fabulous idea! Those teapots are super sweet, so creative! My folks live too far away for me to be any help to them, but yes, they are going a little nuts…my 82 year old father has taken up bike riding!

  10. I love you and I love your mom, Lorna. Happy birthday to your beautiful mommy. My mom lived to 94 and she left a huge footprint on this planet as well. God Bless your sweet mommy. I love her.I love your junk collecting. My sewing space is not fancy either, I just have shelves made our of old drawers with shelves for fat quarters, and other filing. I have to see my fabric. Your kids… just ignore them. Mine are grown and parents of their own (tiny kids though) and it makes me laugh a lot. hahahhahaahTheir children are just like they were hahhhahahahaahaa drama, unfocused, distracted, too chatty, naughty. hahahahahahaaa I love it

The magazine room is nice but I really do like yours better; I especially like the long console chest with all the drawers. My mom collected tea pots…had over 300. When she passed I kept a few that I wanted and gave my 3 grown daughters several, sold some and still have quite a few in storage. What a great idea you've given me. Thanks so much. The flowers in the tire being \”watered\” by a teapot is too cute for words. Blessings. Enjoy your mom for as long as you can! My dad died unexpectedly and mom had a stroke at his funeral and passed the next day. I lost both of them in a span of 6 days. For an only child it has been heartbreaking. Thanks again for the inspiration.

I would have grabbed that bed frame too! I love it! One woman's trash is another's treasure! I miss the days when Mom and I went off in search of garage sales or going to McDonald's for a Shamrock shake. Mom loved them.
