There’s a Moose on the Loose!
Posted on: December 22nd, 2017 by Lorna McMahon
This is the Buffalo Plaid Moose crib size quilt. Cozy and cute!
He’s just moseying along…
That rack is trophy worthy, in my humble opinion.
The backing is Local Color Flannel Tattersail in Light Blue and matches the lightest Grunge Dots from the front. All the fabrics for this quilt were recent purchases shared in this post.
The blue patchwork and black binding look so striking against that snowy backdrop.
I considered using the Grunge Dots to match the moose, but wanted to save more of it for a future Buffalo Plaid quilt using the wolf silhouettes, so I found a subtler piece of black from Northcott Fabrics for the binding.
The quilting was performed using a blue variegated Magnifico Thread from Superior Threads on top and plain white Gutterman thread in the bobbin.
This was so fun to piece. And I am looking forward to testing all the other Buffalo Plaid designs!
The “Buffalo Plaid Moose” quilt finished at 44″ x 52″
and was the 64th use of my 2nd edition of 100 labels
The Buffalo Plaid Moose pattern provides instructions for 5 sizes: 36″ x 44″, 44″ x 52″, 52″ x 68″, 68″ x 84″ and 76″ x 92″.

Blue or green blocks, he is stunning,. and a mighty rack, do they score them like we do down here for stags, the Douglas Score? He would be right at the top.Another fabulous design.
The Grunge Dot fabric really makes this quilt look awesome. Also love the variegated thread you used to quilt it. This Moose quilt design makes me smile each time I see it!
Such a great quilt/pattern! Well done! I'm looking forward to additional Buffalo Plaid designs!
Love it! Very well done.
He’s a beaut, Lorna!
I love this quilt! I'm filing it in the back of my mind for the next time I need a baby quilt pattern.
This is such a clever idea!!
I've been eyeing your moose for days and the generous sale you're running got me off the fence. He's a handsome fella and looks great on the grunge dots! I took the opportunity to pick up Forest Friends 2 as well. Thanks for the fun patterns and have a Merry Christmas!
Beautiful moosey. Hoping to finish your Jolly Little Christmas over the holidays – I have Moostletoe to complete! I have the blocks up on my design curtain (blackout curtain leftovers) and the plumber (sheesh – leaking toilet!) said \”WOW!\” as he popped in while I was beavering away at something – ahhh not my design, but thank you! And thank you Lorna for sharing that quilt along.Merry Christmas to you and yours.
What a fun winter-themed quilt!!
Yes, a great rack and a nice beard, too but what I especially notice in this quilt is movement. I love how it looks like he's just ambling along. Your wavy quilting is just perfect here. Well done…again.
This is awesome. I love the look of the silhouette.
Hello Mr. Moose. I love the look of the plaid. I may have to give that a try some time.
