Cats in Hats

Posted on: December 24th, 2023 by Lorna McMahon

Thank you so much for joining me in celebrating over ten years of Sew Fresh Quilts!

My very first blog post was on December 24th of 2012, back when I used blogger here ❄️

Even after all this time, quilting still gives me a lot of satisfaction. And I am happy to continue to share my quilting journey with you!

This is Cats in Hats.

I had so much fun choosing fabrics for these cat blocks: neutrals for their fur, vibrant eyes, and coordinating scarves and hats with contrasting trims!

Continuing with the winter theme, I pieced together this backing using this Holly and Berries with Pine Cones print on a blue background.

I quilted using my usual organic wavy lines from edge to edge on my domestic machine using blue thread, both on top and on the bottom.

Finished of with a red and white striped binding makes me think of candy canes!!!

Cats in Hats quilt finished at 50” x 64”.

Hoping to share another quilt soon, in the coming New Year!!!

Quilt finishes 50” x 64”. Blocks finish 10″ x 18″.

Right now I’m having a sale exclusive to my pattern shop, so if you are interested in making your own quilt, the pattern is available here…
