Christmas Lights Quilted Table Runner
Posted on: March 3rd, 2017 by Lorna McMahon
It’s REALLY, really, really beginning to look a lot MORE like… Christmas!
This is my final finish using the blocks in the free Have A Jolly Little Christmas quilt along. You can read all about that free quilt along here. This block is Christmas Lights and the instructions are scheduled to be posted on August 12.
The Christmas Lights block is one that finishes at 12″ square. And then I added a 1/2″ sashing between the blocks and before adding the white border, to give the illusion that this is a string of Christmas lights. I love how it looks the same as the binding…
As I have said before, I am concentrating on using my stash this year. It was nice to find a few fat quarters that would work for the lights. And the dark green fabric is a Northcott Artisan Spirit print that I have in wideback. So the pieces used for the sashing and binding were made using the trimming of the Chicken Ranch quilt I showed you last week.
When it came time for quilting, I went with my usual organic wavy lines. I used Ghost White Magnifico thread by Superior Threads on top and plain white Guetermann in the bobbin. I used to do A LOT of quilting in white. And this year has proven to have a lot of that again.
The backing is NOT Winter Garden by Susan Winget for Steele Creek Studio. Surprised? I used the Winter Garden print on ALL of my other Have A Jolly Little Christmas projects, but for this runner I wanted to use the same print found in the sashing and binding.
This “Christmas Lights” quilted table runner finished at 16” x 40″
and was the 21st use of my 2nd edition of 100 labels

That is truly lovely with the sashing between, and using the same fabric for backing and binding, a great finish.
Love this – perfect design for those Christmas lights!! Cute table runner!
I love the Christmas lights. They really turned out great. It always makes me smile to see any Christmas finish, all through the year. Love the colors and how cute everything is.
So cute!! I love the twinkly lights. Maybe if I don't sleep I can make one!!!
Another great use for these great blocks. I love the colours.
So fun! One of the best things about quilting is that it's ALWAYS a holiday. Whether it's Christmas, St. Patrick's Day or Halloween, I love being surrounded by those fun reminders.
