Let’s Bee Social #105

Posted on: December 30th, 2015 by Lorna McMahon

The Jungle Friends blocks were all completed when I made my report for the Let’s Bee Social last week. Then they were all sashed and borders were added. The Baby sized quilt was easily basted and quilted up here at home. But the Full sized quilt finishes at approximately 72″ x 96″, so I hauled that one and the backing and batting down to church on Saturday and made use of their great big tables in the basement. Here is a photo of it draped across a twin bed before quilting.

As you can see by my post on Instagram, Monday was spent quilting that big version up…..

Super with all the animals, and what a great idea to move to where there are huge tables for basting. Wavy lines, they suit it so well.

I love this quilt! I owe someone a baby quilt and just might have to put this on my quilty list for next year. Lorna, I don't know how you come up with all these cute little critters, but I'm sure looking forward to whatever you come up with next.

Happy New Year Lorna!! Bring on 2016! Big quilts can be so crazy to quilt! Muscles and determination…Love it!

  11. I know larger quilts are quite practical, and i love them, but oh how heavy they are! And so much quilting to be done on them – OY! That said, your jungle animal is sure to be an extreme hit and is worth the shoulder ache, methinks. Cheers for finishing the year with a BANG!

  12. Lara B. says:

Jungle Friends looks fantastic Lorna! It makes a really great twin bedspread as well. Queen sized quilts are a challenge to baste and quilt, that's for sure. Happy New Year Lorna!

  13. Laney says:

  14. Your jungle friends quilt is looking great! Looking forward to seeing what you make in 2016.

  15. Your organic wavy lines are so smooth. As hard as I try I cannot get mine that smooth. Probably because I have a cheap Singer machine. Could be the quilter too. LOL Debbie

  16. Vicki in MN says:

Your jungle quilt is sew cute!! I just want you to know I always look at your blog and love seeing what you do Lorna, I just don't always comment(shame on me). When you stitch your organic wavy lines how far apart do you strive for? It always looks so wonderful 🙂

  17. Maker Joy says:

What a cute quilt! Finding a space to baste a large quilt is always such a challenge, you're lucky to be able to go to your church to baste.
