Let’s Bee Social #86

Posted on: August 19th, 2015 by Lorna McMahon

Since announcing that I was interested in teaching quilting classes and doing trunk shows, I have received numerous offers this summer from various quilt guilds in my area. Yay! The Kincardine Sunset Quilters’ Guild has expressed that they would like me to perform a class for the Fox & Friends quilt. So I am in the process of making this quilt as a sample for the class.

This is my third time making the Fox & Friends equilateral triangle quilt. You can see the first Fox & Friends here and the second finish here. The first finished quilt was sold in my Etsy shop.

That second Fox & Friends was entered into our local county fair last year, and not only won first place in the baby quilt category, it also earned the admiration of Margaret. She tracked me down and purchased the quilt for her new grandson. So the Fox & Friends {redo} quilt now resides in Glasgow, Scotland. It’s nice to imagine a sweet little boy snuggling up with those foxes and their raccoon friends.

And even though I had stated back when I taught this class last year that I would be making the next one with a green background…… I didn’t. I still have a large piece of the owl minky used for the backing of the second quilt remaining, so I stuck to using a blue background to match.

Looking forward to that county fair, coming up again in September. It’s been a family tradition for over 10 years now. Since my kids first started public school. Both Erin and Russell have entered a variety of crafts and floral arrangements. Erin has made numerous photography entries. This fair has been a wonderful source of inspiration for each of us. Hmmm…. Wonder just what I will enter this year!

One more thing…..

Without it… What have you got?

Please take a minute to check out Alissa Haight Carlton’s blog today. She is running a fundraiser to help empower our sewing sisters in the Congo by teaching them the skills and providing them with sewing machines. And thereby giving them HOPE. ❤️

Wow, making three of the same quilt must take some patience and some focus. Often while working on one quilt, I am dreaming of the next and can hardly wait to start something new. But I have to say that this quilt is cute enough to do a reapeat of… some happy little ones out there for sure!
