Yes, We Have No Bananas….
This is Monkey See Monkey Do and it’s made from Kona Cottons.
For the Background: Ice Frappe, Pond, Pool, Breakers & Cyan.
For the Monkeys there is Stone, Taupe & Earth.
Cactus, Peapod & Grass are for the Leaves.
As with the Giraffe Love quilt I finished last week, I had a hard time choosing my backing fabric and looked to my online friends for help in making my decision. In the end I went with a different black and white print called “8 Days a Week” by Ampersand for Windham Fabrics.
The quilting was performed using my walking foot, spaced 1/2″ apart, quilted using Superior Threads’ Poly Quilter #331 in Lemon Chiffon thread. This thread is subtly variegated and warmly depicts the sun kissed breezes blowing among the Acacia trees of Africa.
For the binding I had thought about using a black and white stripe. But I dug into my stash for something that would blend in with the quilt top and found this Up in the Sky by Dan Morris for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. I think those blues go perfect with the background of the quilt. I think those blues go perfect with the background of the quilt and provides a striking frame for this fun quilt.

This whole series of animal quilts has been so fun to watch! It looks great.
Beautiful and color-powerful quilts! Great!Greetings, Rike
So fun and colorful! Hugs
This quilt makes me smile and makes me smile even bigger when pictured next to the giraffes! 🙂 Love the quilting, that yellow thread is awesome, perfect choice!
Are you inspiring snuggle time or tree swinging with this super cute masterpiece? Somebody pass the bananas….I love it!!
Loving all the animals you have been creating. These monkeys are awesome.
I am loving watching you explore all these animal designs in quilts. The quilting is really neat and the shapes you used to create the monkeys are neat. They've got an abstract quality to them, while still clearly being monkeys.
Your designs with these are so clever, often with machine pieced quilts of animals I find they look very pixelated and false, but yours don't hit me like that at all.
I didn't think anything could be cuter than the giraffes, but now here come the monkeys, so adorable!
Your two quilts look so good together. You keep giving us more and more animal designs to choose from. I think you need to put them in a book.
They look fantastic together. I can totally see a triptych!
I do not know what to choose after the zebra quilt!!! All so cute.
Ahhh… it's perfect for all the monkey shines that go on at this blog! I'm still loving that soft wave of quilting… could you do a post on how to achieve it? I can get the waves… but I'm not sure how to work around the waves that stop mid-quilt.
Those monkeys are so cute! I ordered a cute backing for this already, now I need some Kona and the pattern.
I love seeing the giraffe quilt side by wide with the monkies. These are fresh, fun, and very cute. Good luck selling the patterns and quilts!
I am loving seeing all the animal quilts. You are so very talented.
This monkey quilt is seriously super cute! And it is even cuter side by side with the giraffes. If I had the time I would make them for my twin nephews. Is a tiger going to come soon?
Adorable series!!! You really have a winner here!!!!!
Very adorable, and I'm not monkeying around!
Just as lovely as the others, I already have your collection, which animals are the next to be shown on a quilt? smile
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed! So adorable Lorna!I love how the two quilts look together too – a perfect gift set for siblings or twins!
Love these animal patterns you come up with. My elephant parade is nearing the finish line. Let's see we have, elephants, frogs, birds, turtles, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, pigs and some flowers. Think we need some cows!!!! Lovely work Lorna.
Looking great! Cute series–definitely should consider a book
Lorna, this is soooo cute and the shot of the two side by side is perfect. These two quilts are just great. I love them.
